BIRA Completes Testing and Releases System 6

09/17/01 - BIRA has completed testing of System 6 for the neu-S4 and UrS cars and has released the design to the membership.

System 6 utilizes the new Porsche 996 twin-turbo monobloc caliper over the Porsche GT-3/993tt 322x32 multi-piece rotor ring. This rotor uses a BIRA-designed and -supplied aluminum rotor hat.

For the neu-S4, this combination is a super upgrade to the already impressive Audi HP-2 stock brakes, firming up the brake pedal quite nicely and improving the brake pedal "feel" and modulation, improving driver confidence. Even better, if fits under stock wheels!!

Best of all, it's a bargain compared to other Porsche-based braking systems available for the car, some costing upwards of $3000 or more. The total installed cost of BIRA System 6 is expected to be below $2000 complete.
