Chad at Eurotech Atlanta (770)794-7240 finished installing a brake upgrade on my '99.5 MK IV GTI GLX VR6.

The front brakes were upgraded with Porsche Boxster (4 pistons) calipers [painted RED] and slotted Audi TT rotors. The brake pads were made by Kerr Friction. As for the rear brakes, I went with stock calipers [painted RED] and slotted stock rotors. Mintex red box pads are installed on the rears. I am currently riding on 18" x 7.5" Kinesis K-58 rims [32mm offset]. They did not clear the calipers up front. I had to use a 8mm H&R spacer, in hindsight, I could have gotten away with a 5mm spacer. My other set of wheels is a stock BBS from a '01 GTI GLX VR6.

With the 8mm spacer, the stock wheels just miss clearing the caliper, 10mm might clear it. The stock 16's will encase the Boxster caliper it just won't clear the face of the caliper. I also had stainless brake lines installed all the way around.

The necessary brackets were purchased through BIRA, they can be reached at: http://www.bira.org/

You join for a nominal fee of $20.00, they sell ONLY the brackets [$250.00 for a pair], they also have sources for other necessary components such as calipers, brake lines, etc. The offset on the Kinesis K-58 is 32mm, I am using a 8mm spacer but definitely could have gotten by with a 5mm spacer. I think that a 2mm or 3mm would have sufficed. I am contemplating purchasing a set of 15mm spacers [the next step up from a 8mm spacer] so that I can bolt up a set of Montreal II's if necessary. Soon I plan on upgrading the enemic stock rear rotors for a set of 11.0" rotors.

The NACA duct in the hood was created by a friend of a friend who works at the local VW bodyshop. They cut into the hood and folded the sides to make the duct. A hinged door is fabricated on the backside of the duct so that in cases of severe precipitation the engine bay and air filter won't get drenched.
